CSS Best of Fest Nominee
The sheer amount of shows Martin Dockery must contain in his head would likely curb stomp a lesser man.
This production, about two lawyers locked amidst a battle of wits and angles, is a cunning and cutting production that plays to the strength of his pawns as they fight their way across the board.
Both he and his longtime cohort Andrew Broaddus are experts at attempting to out maneuver each other. The breadcrumbs he lays out in order to fully flesh out and entrap his characters are well written and exaggerated in all the right ways. He not only understands how to make himself tick, but to also play to the strengths of his partner without having either dominate the other fully.
The play does gloss over several pieces like the AI listening in, and a brotherly bond which I think could've been pushed further, but the way he gets these characters to dance along in his ballet is a textbook example of Dockeryism. (I've just coined that. We can't let him use it)
