Intimi(Dating)- Ottawa Fringe 2025 Review

There are many words one could use to describe Katie Thayer.

She's glamorous, eloquent and “that bitch.”

In Intimi(dating) she goes over the horrors of dating in the modern age with a sharp tongue, a grand wit and a sharp sense of supreme sensuality.

Going over anyone's dating history is sure to be complicated - people are layered and dynamic and whenever two of them decide to bump business, there is always fresh tea to be spilled. Katie not only dishes the good, but serves it on the finest China you would offer to your favorite guests.

She is equal parts charming, alluring and captivating. She showcases her story telling skills, her singing and ukelele playing and her knack for finding just the wrong Canadians.

As beautiful as she is, this is not a pretty show. Under its shiny, sultry veneer lay layers of dirt, grime and pain that are part for the course in such a show. Despite the incredible vulnerability this demands, she is absolutely and totally unflinching in her honesty. She is unafraid to be relentlessly herself, owning up to not only her victories, but also her faults as she wrings out stories that are relatable, hilarious and heartbreaking.

This show is brave, daring and almost as beautiful as the performer behind it, but absolutely a fantastic addition to every Fringe lineup.
