CSS Winnipeg Best Of Fest Nominee

Creators Michelina and Cristina are an absolute delight to see move. This production from Orlando, Florida is a simple concept done well with simple technical tricks that elevate an improvisational movement piece from something great to something truly exceptional.
First off, their movement together is exceptional. They move with grace and purpose that would feel at home on stages much larger than a Fringe festival. The fact that this is primarily improvised is surprising considering how well they manage to not only be present onstage, but also with each other.
There is a palpable use of stage craft here with clever use of shadows, portable lights, dirt, costume and props that takes a simple concept and adds a great deal of depth and complexity to such a rich theme.
This is an artistic piece for sure- but the conceit and execution of the idea has such interest and skill behind it that this is absolutely one of the best shows I will see at the Fringe- and perhaps the best movement piece I will see this year.
All this- and they're a touring company? Impressive.
Don't miss.
