Last year, me and Marysia made friends at Toronto fringe but unfortunately haven't got to see her perform until now. The tragedy is that the show she presents is a lot of fun. Equal parts wine wants and fun time sing-along, she gently commands the stage while looking absolutely ravishing. Her character, a play on the divine diva (as a concept) is a lot of fun and floats between effervescent and flighty.
The true star of the show is Marysia who balances humour and grace quite easily. She has a character that is silly and sultry - but perhaps a bit too self deprecating for her own good at times.
The biggest hook of the show is the sing-along factor. She presents many fabulous songs by Celine and Cher, and while she may not have the full pipes to blast the house down with her vocal prowess, she is excellent at encouraging the audience to participate and have fun along with her.
The overall vibe of the show is fun and light-hearted and certainly not one to take itself too seriously. But a joyous reminder of the fun of life and the positives that can come out of it when you can truly get your diva on.
Cher it with your closest friends.
