Last night I attended the opening preview show of Calgary Fringe and after watching previews for the shows, I am thrilled to be a part of such a vibrant and exciting line up.
What follows are a collection of the performances that left the strongest impression on me and that I am most excited to see at this festival.
(Not including Cabaret of Legends and Xposed as I have already seen them, and can fully recommend)
(Also BODIES for obvious reasons)
(The obvious reason being that is my show that I'm doing)
Kooky.
This looks so Fringe and I am here for it.
Humourous retellings of Biblical stories with a kooky twist? I'm definitely excited to check this one out today.
Am I a sucker for good storytelling shows?
Yes.
Yes I am.
The bittersweet nature of this piece was very intriguing and I'm curious to see just where the show goes from here.
A good line can sell me fast.
While this bit did go on a bit long and didn't quite pay off the way I think they intended, I am very excited to join another cult and see what the comfy wizard has in store.
(I often demand the comfy myself)
Wasn't entirely sure what to expect from another painting show - in the same venue no less! - but Becca absolutely sold me on this.
Very excited to see where this one goes.
They seem to know what they're doing.
Good improv and fun characters are always a winning combo.
The yes and is real in this one and I am excited to get to see it.
(Although I may have to get my tickets early considering how popular they are!)
Can tap dancing be interesting enough to carry a one hour show?
I don't know, but I'm eager to see!
Tap is very under represented in today's day and age so I'm curious to see where they go with it!
No shows seem bad and I do hope to see as many as I can, but these are the ones that have the most amount of my attention right now!
Come back soon for reviews of all of these (and hopefully more!)
