Boys Club - Calgary Fringe 2025 Review

Boys Club - Calgary Fringe 2025 Review

Your enjoyment of this show will depend on two things:
1) How much do you enjoy tap dancing?
2) That's it. How much do you enjoy tap dancing?

I will say that the tap dancing on display is exceptional. The performers clearly know what they're doing and I haven't seen tap displayed as a primary driver of a Fringe show before. I was wondering what they were going to do to keep tap dancing interesting and exciting to entertain for an hour.

To be fair, it's not an hour- resting at a comfortable 45 minutes or so- but overall there really isn't a story to go over here. The performers perform competently and do a great job at their craft- but there isn't really much story or narrative beyond that. It feels more like watching a recital than a Fringe show.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing- but I do think this show would benefit greatly from a different theatre- specifically one with raked seating to allow the audience to see the feet more easily. (They did inform us that if we were in the backrow we could stand to see their feet better) As it is, the wall of sound that comes from this form of dance can be overwhelming but the show itself as a whole is fine.
