Balcony Scene - Montreal Fringe 2026 Review

BALCONY SCENE

A good conceit can carry a show much farther than you'd expect it to. 

The idea of having a simple outcome and coming up with as many ways to prevent you to do it is always a fun gag. I myself have a bit about it. (okay, several bits about it) so even if you can see the foundation that this show is built off if you know the what's up- that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. 

Both actors fully commit to the bit coming up with as many ways as they can to foil the other in the name of authenticity. Each stumbling block they put in each other's way builds upon the chaos in a show that is light and clever without being trite. 

With any show like this, it can get a little bogged down in the middle, but the show never loses sight of it's heart and the fun relationship the two actors command with each other onstage. 

I do wish that they'd presented
