Are You Listening? - On The Edge Fringe Reviews

Dance shows can be a challenge. How do you make something cohesive when working in a medium that traditionally doesn't use dialogue to communicate? How can you create interest and intrigue when working on something that is in its essence, intangible?

You do something like this.

Are You Listening? starts with intrigue. It's not typical as the stage is cluttered and confused. But there is a sense of purpose behind everything that is going on here, even if the audience isn't always made aware of what that is. This show breathes intentionality and benefits from the secretive nature of the show.

The performers are all fantastic with Clara, Hannah and Annie each playing off of each other in fun and different ways. All of them have a fantastic sense of play and the show itself is enjoyable from start to finish.

As with most dance shows, some parts go on a bit too long- but I ended up looking at this piece as more of an absurdist piece. It dives deep into uncanny and doesn't look back- and the ride is a lot of fun.

Certainly one I can recommend if you're looking for a good Fringe time.
