The speaker complains about the main issue with life onboard a space craft- being a janitor.

No one gets this job because they want it. No one signs up for the corps and expects this. Imagine it- you’ve been thinking of this day for years. You’ve been wanting and fighting for this job because you’ve seen the posters saying “Go forth! Nobly! Valiantly! Be important! Make a difference!”- 

And so, after months, years of them subliminally pestering you- you do it. You sign up. You enlist. Ready for everything to click in place and be great. You feel yourself getting excited. You actually start to look forward to your new life! In space! You find yourself thinking, “this is going to change my life! This is going to be everything I ever wanted! This is it!” 

Only to become a space janitor.
